Veloryx · In development

An endless space tower-defense about the obsession with perfection.

Grow a scavenged outpost on a hex-grid, defend it with modular towers, and face enemies that study your strategy and adapt. Every run ends in a grade — how close can you get to an A?

The premise

Practical. Scavenging. A little desperate.

You're not a chosen hero — you're whoever was left holding the wrench. Veloryx drops you onto the ruins of a landing pad with one working ship and a dry sense of humor, and asks you to make it work. The campaign missions teach the systems through a story that stays grounded: repair what's broken, scavenge what you need, and keep the lights on one more wave.

It's told through a practical, sarcastic inner monologue rather than grand cutscenes — the tone of someone who's stopped being surprised by how bad things have gotten, and started getting good at fixing them anyway.

Genre

Sci-fi tower-defense & base builder, with a campaign that eases you into an endless survival mode.

Tone

Grounded, scrappy, and dryly funny — closer to a stranded engineer's diary than a space opera.

Core systems

Every mechanic feeds the same loop: build, defend, improve

Hex-grid base building

Expand your base outward from a single landing pad. Solar plants generate energy, drone bays automate collection, and AI-node platforms host your towers.

Modular towers

Laser towers combine a base, a payload, and an amplifier. Costs scale asymptotically, so late-game upgrades stay meaningful instead of trivial.

Adaptive shield generator

An energy dome absorbs damage, lets some bleed through under pressure, and slowly regenerates — a resource to manage, not a wall to hide behind.

No-wave threat budget

There's no fixed wave list. A growing threat budget spawns and mutates enemies over time, so your strategy is tested by pressure, not memorization.

A tech tree that gates real decisions

Unlock buildings and ship upgrades through research, including the Quantum Circuit Lab — a dedicated mini-game for your most valuable tech.

A mobile spaceship that works for it

Send your ship on repair, collection, and attack runs. It's your most flexible asset — and your first line of defense when a run starts to slip.

The hook

Chase a perfection score, not just a high score

A live efficiency rating tracks how cleanly you're playing, from 0–100%, throughout the run. When your base finally falls, you don't just get a number — you get a grade, A through F, with specific notes on what cost you the run.

It turns every death into a lesson instead of a dead end, and gives every replay a clear, personal reason to be better.

A-

Efficiency: 91%

Resource waste, repair delays, and shield mismanagement all pull this number down in real time.

Development roadmap

Built in the open — here's exactly where things stand

We're building Veloryx as a campaign first, with the full endless-defense vision layered in as systems mature.

Live in build

Campaign foundations

Hex-grid base expansion, core building set, tech tree, resource economy, and Missions 0–2 with tutorials and story beats.

In progress

Mission content & balancing

Expanding the campaign, tuning the threat budget, and refining the perfection-score model against real playtests.

Planned
